<p>An improved process for producing heptastigmine and acid addition salts thereof with organic acids, wherein the improvement consists in that the preparation of heptastigmine from physostigmine is carried out by reacting heptastigmine with a suitable silylating agent and the silyl group of the thus obtained silyl compound is then replaced with a hydrogen atom. Advantageously, the subsequent addition of heptyl isocyanate to eseroline is carried out in the presence of a base and a polar aprotic diluent.</p> |
