<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a rate of occurrence of a display defect caused after long time continuous drive and to improve reliability by making a non-linear coeffi cient of an element a specified value or below when a current flowing through the element is expressed with a specified relation by an applied voltage. SOLUTION: A switch element holding in a hard carbon film being an insulation body between conductors and giving between the conductors a non-linear current-voltage characteristic is provided on each display electrode. Then, when the current I flowing through the element is shown by the applied voltage V as In (I/S)=β√V+κ, a value ofβis made smaller than 7. Further, the value ofκmade smaller than -35. However, theβis a coefficient showing non- linearity, and an S shows the area of the switching element. When the value ofβbecomes larger than 7, the deterioration in the element is increased rapidly, and when the value ofκbecomes larger than -35, the number of fractionation (number of duty) at a time division drive time is reduced rapidly. Thus, the reliability is improved, and high time division drive is made possible.</p> |
