PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a re-electrifying device when the defect of undercolor splatter is not caused, and residual toner voltage is restrained to the minimum without using a considrable electrification current. SOLUTION: Re-electrification stations D, F and H include 1st corona generating devices 36, 51 and 61 electrifying a charge holding surface 10 to absolute potential higher than specified potential and 2nd corona generating devices 37, 52 and 62 electrifying the charge holding surface and adjusting the electrification to the specified potential. The 2nd corona generating device includes plural separated coronodes capable of giving charge to the charge holding surface and an electric input for impressing DC voltage on the coronode by receiving power. At least two adjacent coronodes have different polarities from each other, so that positive potential is given to the positive coronode and negative potential is impressed on the negative coronode. The electrification is uniform on an image area after passing through the re-electrification station, and the possibility of the inversion of the polarity of the toner is minimized.
