PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic emulsion prepared by cation type starch agent which facilitates a photographic merit. SOLUTION: This emulsion comprises: silver halide particles containing planar particles which are characterised by (a) having a main surface 100}, (b) containing 50mol% of more of boride with respect to silver, (c) dominating the ratio of 70% or more to the projection area of total particles, (d) having the average equivalent circle dia. of at least 0.7μm, and (e) having the average thickness of lower than 0.07μm; and dispersion medium containing a peptizer absorbed by the silver halide particles, the agent being a water dispersion type cationic starch.
