PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide device which can easily and precisely be assembled and manufactured. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide device is formed by fitting and mounting connection end members 2 and 3, which are engaged by engagement recessed parts 16 while surrounding both the flanks and top surface 10 of a waveguide chip 1, having a core part 6 and a clad part 5 formed on a substrate 4, so that the connection end surfaces 25a and 25b of the waveguide chip 1 are exposed on the connection end surfaces 25a and 25b. On both the sides of the top surface 10 of the waveguide chip 1, V grooves 8a and 8b are formed to the overall length of the waveguide chip 1 and at the engagement recessed parts 16 of the connection end materials 2 and 3, inverted V grooves 14 and 15 are formed at the positions corresponding to the V grooves 8a and 8b. An optical fiber 9 for positioning is arranged to the overall length of the V grooves 8a and 8b and both the end sides of the optical fiber 9 are clamped with the V grooves 8a and 8b and inverted V grooves 14 and 15 to position the waveguide chip 1 and connection end members 2 and 3. |
