The present invention provides a device for recording/reproducing a program using a VCR tape and a method for the same, which enables to use the VCR tape as an auxiliary memory by recording/reproducing various programs in the VCR tape. In addition to the conventional VCR recording/reproducing device having a FM modulator for modulating a video signal; a record system having a record amplifier for amplifying the modulated signal and a video head for recording the amplified signal to a tape; a video head for reading data from the tape; a reproducing system having a free amplifier for amplifying the signal read from the video head and a FM demodulator for demodulating the amplified signal to a video signal, this invention further comprises a microprocessor for arranging a whole system; a data line for exchanging data with an external microprocessor; an internal memory for exchanging data with the microprocessor; and a A/D converter and a D/A converter sequently adapted through, at least, a switch for converting a signal flow between the output terminal of the FM demodulator and the input terminal of the FM modulator. The A/D converter and D/A converter are controlled by the microprocessor through a order line.
