A rotatively driven accommodation tool (1) supports the workpiece (3) activated by a forwardly moving device (2). A rotatively located form roller (4) is provided, being rotatable around an axis (Y) directed parallel to the axis (X) of the accommodation tool. In the direction of its Y-axis, the form roller is adjustable in relation to the workpiece. The form roller in the direction of its Y-axis is divided into several successively arranged part form areas (4a-d) and is adjustable vertically to its Y-axis on the workpiece. The tooth thickness on the foot circuit is the same for all part area, but the tooth height in the individual part form areas increases. The part form areas are formed as exchangeable individual segments.
