The cable has two casing end sections (12,13), each having part (16,17) of a guide bore for a slide block. The bore parts are re-aligned when connected. The end faces of the casing end sections are pressed against each other in axial direction by a connection unit (18). The end faces are maintained in an aligned position in the radial direction by a centring part (18.1) on the connection unit. The connection unit consists of a locking hook (24) on one casing end section, and a locking groove (23) on the other end section.
