A hydrophobic coating for ammonium nitrate prills which enhances the dry storage life and facilitates the transportation of said prills is derived from stearic acid and metal ions selected from the alkali metals, alkaline earths, aluminium, zinc or a combination of such metal ions, in stoichiometric ratios to form a stearic salt and said salt is in combination with a dispersing agent comprising fatty amide(s), said salt being present in an amount of from 1 to 80 weight percent of said coating. |
