Size compsn. (I) for coating glass fibres, contg. (a) 2-20 (pref. 4-10) wt% polyepoxide, polyester, polyvinyl acetate or polyurethane film-former, (b) 0.1-10 (pref. 0.3-2) wt% organofunctional silane, (c) 0.1-20 (pref. 0.5-5) wt% monomeric aromatic di- or poly-carboxylic acid, (d) 0-10 (pref. 0.1-5) wt% other conventional size components contg. no polyolefin dispersion or emulsion, and (e) water to 100 wt%. Also claimed are glass fibres coated with the dry residue of (I). |
