PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain useful proteins, peptides, etc., in high efficiency by transforming an E.coli with a protein-manifestation plasmid, etc., free from a region coding for a signal peptide for secretion, culturing the transformed E.coli and collecting the product. SOLUTION: This process for the production of a desired protein or peptide by a genetic engineering method comprises the integration of a gene coding for the desired protein or peptide in a plasmid free from a region coding for a signal peptide for secretion to obtain a protein-manifestation plasmid or a peptide-manifestation plasmid, the introduction of the plasmid into an E.coli to effect the transformation of the cell and obtain an E.coli transformed with the protein-manifestation plasmid or peptide-manifestation plasmid free from a region coding for the signal peptide for secretion, the cultivation of the transformed E.coli in a medium containing a sugar selected from glucose, maltose, xylose, etc., and the collection of the product from the cultivation product. |
