PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acidic dispersant having superior dispersing property to an inorg. substance and an oily component by using a polysaccharide consisting of D-glucuronic acid, L-rhamnose, D-galactose and D-glucose as constituent monosaccharides in a specified molar ratio as an effective component. SOLUTION: This acidic dispersant contains a polysaccharide consisting of D-glucuronic acid, L-rhamnose, D-galactose and D-glucose as constituent monosaccharides in a molar ratio of (0.8-1.2):(2.4-3.6): (0.8-1.2):(0.8-1.2) as an effective component. The mol. wt. of the polysaccharide measured by gel permeation chromatography is about 1×10<3> -10×10<6> . The amt. of this dispersant used is properly selected in accordance with the kind of dispersoid, etc., but it is usually about 0.01-10% (w/v) of the amt. of a dispersive medium. The bonding form of the residue of each of the constituent monosaccharides of the polysaccharide and the molar ratio among the residues of the saccharides have been specified.
