PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce overall operation quantity in calculating a focusing distance and to enhance the quick responsiveness in automatic focusing by calculating the focusing distance by a line image sensor in one direction and limiting a range where a focusing position is searched in the case of calculating the focusing distance concerning the line image sensor in another direction based on the calculated result. SOLUTION: In the case of completing input in a standard part and a reference part in a direction (x), the generation of difference data, the calculation of a correlative value, the extraction of maximum correlation, interpolation calculation and decision on low contrast are performed in terms of the data. As a result, in the case of deciding that it is not low contrast and obtained image deviation is reliable data, the difference of focusing image deviation from the image deviation P=XM-5 is calculated so as to calculate defocusing amount and the driving amount of the lens. Otherwise, the lens is driven according to the calculated driving amount of the lens, and reintegration and reoperation for focusing detection are repeated in terms of respective picture elements in the direction (x). Meanwhile, when it is decided as low contrast, integration and operation for focusing detection of the image sensor in a direction (y) are started. |
