The brush (1) is fitted to the end of the suction tube of a vacuum cleaner. The brush is hemispherical, with outward projecting flexible bristles (7). The wall of the brush has multiple holes (6) distributed over its surface to provide passages for suction. The brush can be fixed or mounted to rotate on the end of the suction tube (1). The rotary brush is mounted on bearings (3,4) on the end of the suction tube. The holes in the brush wall lead to tubes (8) projecting inside the brush. The tubes are at an angle to the wall, creating a turbine effect as the air is drawn into the interior of the brush, causing the brush to rotate. Alternatively an electric motor may be used to rotate the brush head.
