PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for molding an optical raw material in which press pressure is always kept const. while the optical raw material is brought into contact with a mold and press molding is completed. SOLUTION: In an apparatus for molding an optical raw material in which the optical raw material 12 is softened by heating and is carried into the space between top and bottom molds 1 and 2, when the bottom mold 2 is elevated by a rod 22 of a press cylinder 19 through a mold holding shaft 8 and a press pressure is applied on the optical raw material 12 between the top and bottom molds 1 and 2 to perform the press molding of this optical raw material 12, the force acting on the mold holding shaft 8 is kept const. during press molding of the optical raw material 12 by controlling the action of the rod 22 of the press cylinder 19 by means of a control mechanism part 38. It is possible thereby to mold the optical raw material 12 under a condition where the press pressure is always kept const. while the press molding is completed. |
