<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately align both cartridges by setting a reference point rejected by a large cartridge again at a new location on the lower surface of bottom plate of cartridge. SOLUTION: A drive 3 has three corresponding reference faces, i.e., two reference faces on the lower surface for right guide and one reference faces on the lower surface for right guide. Notches 135, 136 provided on the lower surface of bottom plate of a cartridge 101 are located at the same positions as the notches 35, 36 of a small cartridge 1 with respect to tape access openings 5, 105 and the cartridge 101 is also provided with reference faces 125, 126 located at the same relative positions as the reference faces 25, 26 of cartridge 1. More specifically, front part of the cartridge 101 is received in the cartridge driver in similar manner as the small cartridge 1. The driver can be made compatible with both large and small cartridges by constituting such that a third point can be set on the center line under a plate.</p> |
