PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a small, high sensitivity and high response bistable magnetic element and a production method therefor. SOLUTION: An amorphous wire (Fe4.35 Co68.15 Si12.5 B15.0 , Bs=0.7T) exhibiting a slightly negative magnetostriction (-10<-7> ) is drawn to have a diameter of 30μmϕ. Tension annealing is then carried out (425 deg.C, 20min) at 8kg/mm<2> and the wire is twisted 20 times/m before electrodes are secured to the both ends thereof by soldering its both ends of a wire having length of 1mm thus obtaining the bistable magnetic element. The element is fed with a pulse current or a high frequency current superposed by a DC current so that the voltage to be induced across the element is changed leapingly to variation of the external applying field.
