Damping underlayer for building frame

The damping underlayer has a first layer (1) of a material which dampens sound and a second layer (2) of a shock absorbing material. The second layer can be formed of a mesh material which can transmit shock waves in its main plane. The underlayer can have a coating (3) to assure the adhesion of the layers and or increase the rigidity of the underlayer. The first layer can be formed of a thermoplastics foam with a density of between 50 and 500 kg per metre cubed.
