Cylindrical jig, has milling cutters (24) at its lower end, which fits concentrically around rods which require machining. The jig is centred by a bush (25) which can move axially between stops but is forced against the lower stop by spring (28). Bush (25) has a spigot, with bore (29), which passes through the jig body (23). Also claimed is the method, for the removal of spacers on nuclear fuel rods, which uses the jig.
