A surface treatment apparatus enabling a uniform surface treatment to be carried out with the occurrence of unevenly treated portions prevented, and capable of preventing the environment from being contaminated by old films of coating and abrasive grains separated from the surface of an object. This apparatus comprises at least a cylindrical ejection case provided with a main opening in the portion of a wall thereof which is opposed to the surface of an object, and an auxiliary opening in the portion of the wall which is on the opposite side of the main opening-carrying portion thereof; an annular suction seal fixed to the main opening of the ejection case so as to seal a clearance between the ejection case and the surface of the object; a nozzle adapted to be moved reciprocatingly in the auxiliary opening in the direction parallel to the surface of the object and eject a surface treatment substance onto the surface of the object; a parallel driving mechanism for moving the nozzle along and in parallel with the surface of the object; a flat belt for covering the auxiliary opening in which the nozzle is fitted; and a vacuum generating means connected to a space defined by the surface of the object, ejection case, suction seal and flat belt and adapted to reduce the pressure in the space.
