The cap comprises a hemispherical crown (1) equipped with an inner elastic strip (10) sewn to form a truncated conical shape which converges inwards inside the crown. The elastic strip has a circumference which varies from a size which is greater than the average head to a size smaller than the average head. It is made from a woven material which can stretch along its circumference but not across its width. The lower edge of the crown has an inner circular reinforcing ring (13) of a semi-rigid plastic which is thinner at the sides than at the front and back to allow the crown to be folded for storage. The ring can be made from a material with a shape memory effect.
