PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image information processor with high image quality economically by adding edge information to feature point information at a compression side and interpolating an edge part sharply and a gradation part smoothly at the expansion side so as to decode luminance information. SOLUTION: An image information compression means 2 stores digital luminance information VD1 being an output of an A/D converter 3 to a storage means 10, an equi-luminance line trace means 11 generates an equi-luminance line to outputs feature point information VD3 to a storage means 12, an edge mask generating means 13 detects edge information to generate an edge mask. An image data generating means 14 decides an edge and adds edge information, a communication channel coding means 5 codes feature point information VD6 with edge information and outputs the result. Thus, an image data quantity is reduced and the edge part is decoded at the expansion side and an image with high quality without a step difference in the luminance of the gradation part is decoded. |
