PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a solid activated carbon having sufficient mechanical strength without causing any decrease of capacity by the decrease of specific surface area due to the narrow pores of active carbon which are filled with a shape retaining resin. SOLUTION: This solid activated carbon is produced by mixing active carbon with at least one or more kinds of the easily carbonizing resin consisting of emulsified oil drops having the diameter of 10-1000 times of the average narrow pore diameter of the active carbon to prepare a molding material, then carbonizing the molding molded by a doctor blade method, a tape molding method, a press molding method or a combination thereof in a non-oxidizing atmosphere and firing and integrating the carbonized material of the active carbon and the easily carbonizing resin. The solid activated carbon is applied for a polarizable electrode of an electrical double layer capacitor. |
