PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select the optimum route by omitting the inputting operation of a destination and a plurality of pieces of routing place information, and sorting the discontinuously read data from the current position to the nearest order. SOLUTION: A traveling position display device reads the map data corresponding to the own vehicle position detected by own vehicle position detecting means from a CD-ROM 7, and displays the data together with the own vehicle position on a liquid crystal display 8A. The device selects the nearest routing place from a plurality of routing places to the own vehicle position or to the route to the destination based on the data read by a reader 19, searches the route to the destination via the selected routing place, and displays the optimum route from the current own vehicle position to the destination or the routing place on the display 8A. |
