摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel positive electrode with a high active material utilization factor by specifying the specific surface area and particle size of cobalt hydroxide which is an additive. SOLUTION: A nickel positive electrode for an alkaline storage battery contains nickel hydroxide powder and cobalt hydroxide powder, and the cobalt hydroxide powder having a specific surface area of 10m<2> /g and a particle size of 1/2 of that of the nickel hydroxide is used. In addition to above, the nickel positive electrode for the alkaline storage battery is preferable to use nickel hydroxide whose particle surface is covered with cobalt hydroxide having a specific surface area of 10m<2> /g or more. The use of oxidation-treated cobalt hydroxide is preferable. The nickel positive electrode is preferable to contain at least one selected from the group comprising metallic nickel powder, carbon powder, and metallic cobalt powder.
