Apparatus for growing plants e.g. strawberries includes a structure having one or more exterior walls, the wall or walls having apertures or recesses and the structure being adapted to accommodate soil and being continuously rotatable round an upright axis to ensure that plants growing in the apertures or recesses experience the same weather conditions. As illustrated in Fig. 1 the exterior wall 1 is mounted on an anuular base 7 rotatable by a pinion 13 of motor 12 which engages a channel member 8. Soil is contained between the wall 1 and an interior wall 2. A water pipe 15 with a branch 16 is provided for irrigation, and rain is directed on to the soil by members 17, 17<SP>1</SP>. A parabolic reflector (21) (Fig. 2, not shown) may be provided to concentrate the suns rays on the side turned away from the sun. |
