Method and apparatus for manufacturing two- or more coloured dashboard foils or dashboards made therefrom

The method produces multicoloured composite sheets for switchboards or instrument panels (dashboards). A top sheet containing colourant or pigment is joined to a carrier sheet. These are produced from two or more extruders producing layers of plastic melt, fed continuously to a black box or adapter with suitable openings receiving them. This contains a triangular or wedge shaped projection. Two differently coloured molten plastics are used in the surface layer, having similar viscosity (the MFI difference at 230 degrees C/2,16 kg; is from 0-0.5g/10 min). At first separated by the wedge, the melts are led together and after passing through the adapter are united before leaving the extruder nozzle. Also claimed are the corresponding process to make the instrument panel and the instrument panel made using it.
