A watch escapement comprises a toothed escape wheel 3, a vibrating blade 12 having one end 12b rigidly secured to a plate 1 and the other end 12a twisted at right angles with respect to the rest of the blade, and a support 8 secured to the end 12a of the blade, the support having pallets 9, 10 and oscillating in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the escape wheel. Circumferential sets of teeth 6, 7 are formed on the escape wheel, the teeth forming a saw tooth configuration with one set a half tooth out of phase with the other set. The pallets 9, 10 have a similar saw tooth configuration and in the rest position project slightly into the sets of teeth 6, 7. Rotation of the escape wheel 3 by a pinion 4 and a wheel 5 causes the sets of teeth 6, 7 to impart a transverse oscillatory motion to the support 8. A tuning fork or other resonator may be used as the regulator instead of the blade 12 or the regulator may comprise a separate resonator the vibration of which is synchronized mechanically, magnetically, electro-dynamically or electromagnetically with the vibrating blade. |
