PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of improving resolution and contrast with a mosaical display device using optical wobbling and a method therefor. SOLUTION: A polarization plane rotating element which deflects optical paths is packaged between the mosaical display device 3, such as liquid crystal display, and an observer or a screen to apparently increase pixels by shifting display pixel patterns by using the optical wobbling without increasing the number of the pixels. A condensing optical system 2 consisting of microlens parts 2, such as microlenses, made correspondent to the pixel apertures 3a of the mosaical display device 3 is disposed on the back light side of the mosaical display device. The respective microlens parts 2a converge incident light beams 1 on the respective pixel apertures 3a smaller than the pixel apertures 3a on the display focal plane of the mosaical display device 3. As a result, the display pixel sizes are reduced, by which the pixels are made brighter and the overlaps of the pixels which are the case for the deterioration of the resolution are decreased. The contrast and resolution are thus improved. |
