1,122,775. Surgical dressings. L. D. KURTZ and R. H. SMITH. 16 Feb., 1966 [23 Feb., 1965], No. 6733/66. Heading A5R. A surgical dressing, intended for application to the skin immediately surrounding a tube extending from the body, comprises an absorbent sheet with two apertures 5 and a slit 6 extending from each aperture to the periphery of the sheet, the slits being located on apposite sides of the line between the apertures and the sheet being folded so that the apertures coincide and the slits are relatively offset. Alternatively, two superposed sheets (not shown) have coinciding apertures and a slit extends from each aperture to the periphery of the sheets, which are sewn or glued together along one edge. For use, opposite edges of the folded sheet or superposed sheets are pulled in opposite directions to open both slits until portions of the opened slits coincide to form a slot. The slot permits passage of the tube and closure of the slits secures the dressing around the tube.
|
