Aminomethylene compounds of the formula <IMAGE> can be advantageously prepared by reacting C-H-acidic compounds of the formula <IMAGE> with formamide acetals of the formula <IMAGE> in which the radicals R<1> to R<6> have the meanings given in the description when the process is carried out in the presence of a secondary amine of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<7> and R<8> have the meaning given in the description.
