An aerator comprising an internally bladed rotary cone 21 depending into the liquid is mounted on an annular float 5 by flat or streamlined struts 6 aligned with the direction of discharge. The aerator is mounted on a shaft 17 driven by a motor 16 through a gearbox 15 mounted on a platform 8, camp rising beams 9, 12, supported by the struts. The lower end of the cone may be flared as at 25, or may alternatively mate with a stationary duct 26 fixed to the float 5 by ties 28. The float 17 hexagonal in plan (Fig. 2, not shown), but in another embodiment, it is circular, the lower part of the inner periphery forming the inlet duct. The impeller blades are then fixed on the outer surface of a cone surrounded by a cone mounted directly on the float. The height of the cone may be varied by adjusting screws 13, 14.</p> |
