Heading B7C The wheel 12, e.g. of a tractor, is fixed to its axle 11 by wedge assembly 16 consisting of shaft 20 carrying wedge 25, having free rotation and limited axial movement, and wedge 30 engaging screw threads 21b, the wedges having wedgesurfaces 25e, 30e engageable tangentially by rotation of shafts 20 in the appropriate direction, with curved ramps 40 on the wheel hub 13. Surfaces 25b, 30b engage the axle and projections 25d, 30d co-operate with hub surfaces 15a, 15b to facilitate release of the wedges and ramps when shaft 21 is rotated in the opposite direction. |
