PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the application of a magnetic field for reproduction and to solve the problems of the complexing of a device, the increase of consumed electric power, the rise of cost and the increase of size in association with the application of the magnetic field. SOLUTION: This magneto-optical recording medium has a reproducing layer 1 made of a perpendicularly magnetized film having a compensation temp. Tcomp1 above room temp. Tr and a Curie temp. Tc1 , a middle layer 2 made of a perpendicularly magnetized film having a Curie temp. Tc2 and a recording layer 3 made of a perpendicularly magnetized film having a Curie temp. Tc3 as magnetically coupled magnetic layers. The temps. have relations represented by the inequalities Tr<Tc2 <Tc3 , Tr<Tc2 <Tc1 and|Tcomp1 -Tc2|<50 deg.C.
