The solvent level correction makes use of capillary or porous transfer to provide a static mechanism to transfer solvent to the ink to maintain the correct proportion of solvent in the ink. The ink is delivered from a reservoir (39) fitted to the top of the printing plate (38). The solvent is held in a flat chamber (43) formed in one side of the printing plate A permeable wall (46) at the centre of the solvent chamber opens into the edge of the ink reservoir, and mixes solvent with the ink as the chamber is wiped over the top of the plate to ink its surface.
|
