A bioavailable crystalline form of cefuroxime axetil, obtained by treating known crystalline or amorphous cefuroxime axetil with water or with a water-miscible organic solvent or with a mixture thereof at a temperature of between +20 DEG C and +100 DEG C, followed by cooling and separating the crystalline product by known methods.
