PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the subject compound at ordinary temperature and atmospheric pressure by adding a specific nitrogen source, a specific buffer and a specific inorganic salt to a medium, when a microorganism having an ability to oxidize one end of a linear hydrocarbon is cultured in the medium containing the linear hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism [preferably a genus Mycobacterium microorganism such as a novel microorganism, Mycobacterium KO-013 strain (FERN- P-13478)] having an ability to oxidize one end of a linear hydrocarbon is cultured in a medium containing the linear hydrocarbon and specific ammonium sulfate in an amount of 0.5-1.5g/l as a nitrogen source, a phosphate salt in an amount of 3-9g/l as a buffer, and magnesium sulfate in an amount of 0.1-1g/l (based on its heptahydrate salt) as an inorganic salt to obtain the objective compound. The culture is preferably performed at 25-32 deg.C under an aerobic condition. |
