The tool has a piston (3) working in a cylindrical housing (1). It acts via an anvil (4) on a protruding tool (50). There is a return spring (6) for the tool holder. Two damping springs (8,8') enclose the housing, and are enclosed in a plastics sleeve (9,9') sliding on the housing. The springs act against opposite sides of a stop ring (7) on the housing, while the sleeve forms stops for the other ends of the springs. The sleeve can be in two parts joined together, as can the housing, the stop ring being inserted between the housing halves (10,10'). The springs themselves can have virtually the same spring constant. The sleeve can bear against the housing only at its front and rear ends, the latter extending as far as the stops on it.
