The present invention discloses silicon dioxide-based granulates, with following characteristics: Particles medium size from 10 to 120 mm; BET Surface: from 40 to 400 m2/g; Pores Volume: from 0,5 to 2.5 m; Pores size distribution: less than 5 percent of pores total volume, consisting in pores with a diameter lower than 5 mm; the rest consisting in mesopores and macropores. pH Value of 3,6 to 8,5; Tampered density: from 200 to 700 g/l. Said granulates are prepared by dispersing silicon dioxide in water; drying it by pulverization, and eventually going under a thermic treatment, it is silanized. Granulates are applied as vehicles for catalysts.
