In this equipment for the production of the load in a lift cage (3), a motor (4) drives a drive pulley (5), over which a hoist cable (6) is guided. A carrying frame (7) is arranged at one end of the hoist cable (6) and a counterweight (8) is arranged at the other end of the hoist cable (6). The lift cage (3) rests on spring elements (9), which bear on the carrying frame (7). A belt (12), which is guided by way of a first deflecting roller (10) and a second deflecting roller (11), is coupled mechanically with the lift cage (3). The movement of the lift cage (3) is transmitted to the belt (12), which drives a pulse generator (13) coupled to the first deflecting roller (10). In the case of changes in load, the spring elements (9) are compressed to a greater or lesser extent according to their characteristic, whereby the lift cage (3) moves relative to the carrying frame (7), which is in tum detected by the pulse generator (13) and translated into a travel signal (SL). From this, an evaluating unit (18) determines a load magnitude which influences a motor current (IW).
