The x-ray image amplifier includes a single base carrier. The image amplifier tube, image pick-up system and carrier arm are fixed to the base carrier. A holder is provided for the x-ray image amplifier. The base carrier is disposed at the output end of the image amplifier housing. The base carrier is made of aluminium and is connected to a part of the amplifier tube made of ceramic.
