FIELD: metallurgy; continuous casting of metals. SUBSTANCE: liquid metal from ladle is delivered into vacuum chamber where residual pressure is built, then metal is delivered into pony ladle through branch pipe and further on into moulds out of which ingots are taken. Depth of branch pipe dipping in metal in pony ladle is changed by changing level of metal in ladle. In process of continuous casting metal in pony ladle is heated by plasma arc between metal level which serves as anode and graphite rod which serves as cathode. When depth of branch pipe dipping is changed, graphite rod is displaced accordingly to provide constant distance between and face of graphite rod and metal level. DC voltage supplied to rod is maintained constant. Position of metal level in pony ladle is judged by valve of travel of graphite rod. Device id intended for use in continuous casting installations. Essential illustration is provided. EFFECT: enhanced quality of continuously cast ingots, improved degassing of metal at continuous casting. |
