PURPOSE: To provide a device capable of effectively suppressing the meandering of a transporting belt by a regulating plate system which is an inexpensive and simple method and is yet unaffected by a change with lapse of time. CONSTITUTION: The belt transporting device has a belt 12 which has a thickness t[m], a modulus of longitudinal elasticity E(g/mm<2> ) in a transporting direction and a perpendicular direction and a width Bw[m], a roller 16 which has the impression load W[g/mm]applied to tense this belt 12 and a diameter D[mm] and is wound with the belt 12 and regulating plate 31 which is fixed and disposed by having a distance L[m] from the end face of the roller having this diameter D and acts as a belt meandering regulating member having the constant contact with one end edge of the belt 12. The distance L from the roller end face to the contact surface of the belt meandering regulating member 31 with the front belt 21 is specified to the relation expressed by L[mm]<(42.3×D×E×t×10<-3> )/(W×Bw). |
