PURPOSE: To provide a television receiver provided with a pattern automatic changeover function in which the presence of a caption is discriminated based on time and the pattern with the presence of caption is surely switched. CONSTITUTION: A CPU 30 receives presence/absence information of a caption from a pattern area detection section 42, and the CPU 30 discriminates the presence of caption when a video signal representing the presence of caption is received consecutively for an optional time and selects a deflection circuit 32 to display the caption on the screen. |
