PURPOSE: To obtain a freshness preservative by combining a specific sulfonylsemicarbazide derivative with or its salt with a specific substance, capable of maintaining freshness of a cut flower in an excellent state for a long period of time. CONSTITUTION: This freshness preservative composition of a cut flower is obtained by combining a sulfonylsemicarbazide derivative of the formula ]R<1> is a 3-4C alkyl, phenyl (replaceable with a halogen, nitro, an alkyl, etc.), pyridyl or thienyl (replaceable with a carboxyalkyl, etc.); R<2> and R<3> are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxyalyl, an alkoxyalkyl, C(=X)-X-R<4> (R<4> is an alkyl; X is O or S) or R<2> and R<3> form a 4-5C heterocyclic ring with adjoining N or N=CR<5> (R<6> ) (R<5> and R<6> are each an alkyl)[ or its salt with at least one ethylene biosynthesis inhibitor or its salt. 1,1-Dimethyl-4-(phenylsulfonyl)semicarbazide is preferable as the compound of the formula. The amount of it used is 1×10<-4> to 0.1wt.%. Aminooxyacetic acid, etc., are preferable as the ethylene biosynthesis inhibitor. The amount of it used is 1×10<-4> to 1.0wt.%. |
