The charge used to drive the bullet also accelerates a number of counter-masses in opposite directions, using the approximate or exact agreement between the pressure-loaded surface of the masses and the bullet endface as well as their symmetrical positions relative the longitudinal axis of the barrel (2) to cancel out the reaction forces acting on the weapon. It is possible that the counter-masses form part of a self loading or rapid-firing system. The counter-mass suggestibly cylindrically surrounds the revolver (0) barrel (2) and thus forms a cavity (3) with the annular surfaces of the barrel ring joined by gas channels (4) to the rear of the barrel interior. The recoil force acting on the bullet etc is equalised by that acting on the barrel ring (2) along with the compensating effect produced by the counter-masses, maintaining this balance advantage until the bullet leaves the muzzle.
