The arrangement includes a device (10) producing a directed water jet which has two fixed control surfaces (55,56) symmetrically spaced in relation to the swivel axis (51). The surfaces are for the purpose of deflecting the accelerated water jet. The water jet producer (10) is located inside an opening (50) in the bow of the craft. The control surfaces are formed in parabolic fashion as wall sections of the opening extending from the longitudinal axis (53) of the craft. The water jet producer may be located in the stern, and the control surfaces may be formed as blades which can swivel from a neutral to a working position.
