PURPOSE: To simplify control by employing a system changing ink particle charging efficiency and keeping the quantity of deflection of charged ink particles and the height of a printing character constant by changing the distances between the charging surfaces of two charge electrodes arranged so as to surround ink particles and ink particles in an ink jet direction. CONSTITUTION: Two charge electrodes 1 have a structure changing the distances between the charging surfaces thereof and ink particles in an ink jet direction and, in the relation between a position 3 where the ink from a nozzle 2 is granulated and charging efficiency, when the distance up to the position where the ink is granulated becomes long, the distances of ink particles up to the charging surfaces become short and, therefore, charging efficiency is increased. When the distance up to the position where the ink is granulated becomes short, charging efficiency becomes low. Since the distance up to the position 3 where the ink from the nozzle is granulated becomes short by a pressure loss change when ink viscosity is high, charging efficiency becomes low when ink viscosity is high. |
