PRODUCTION OF CAROTENOID ANALOG

PURPOSE: To obtain a carotenoid analog having carcinostatic action by culturing Bacillus alvei DC-1 and extracting the substance from the cultured product. CONSTITUTION: A carotenoid derivative such asβ-carotene or a lycopene derivative is produced by culturing Bacillus alvei DC-1 preferably under irradiation with light of 6,000-7,000 lux and extracting the obtained culture product.
