The machine for cleaving wood chunks comprises a bed (3) on which the chunk is placed and held and a cleaving blade (10) which is propelled forward by hydraulic pressure from inlet pipe (29), applied to chamber (7) hence to piston (8). The pressure is applied or bypassed by a lever (27) rotating control valve (26). After cleaver is actuated, the valve (26) is returned to the bypass position (as shown) and the flow of hydraulic fluid through a nozzle (21) across the mouth of tube (22) has a venturi or 'filter pump' effect, thus causing a partial vacuum in chamber (7), via connector (20). |
